Who you're agreeing with.

Vocula is made by Qatalytic Oy, a Finnish private limited company based in Espoo, Finland. These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use the app. By signing in you accept them, along with the privacy policy and the tester consent. Questions about any of it: hello@qatalytic.fi.

What Vocula is.

Vocula is a vocabulary-learning app. You describe situations you want to prepare for, and it builds flashcards you study with spaced repetition. It's a study aid — nothing more. It is not professional advice of any kind (medical, legal, financial, or otherwise), and it isn't a translation or interpretation service you should rely on for anything important.

This is a closed alpha.

Right now Vocula is pre-release software offered free of charge to invited testers. That means:

• Things may break, change, or be removed without notice.
• Features come and go while we figure out what works.
• It may be unavailable at times. We don't promise any uptime.
• Don't treat it as your only record of anything — keep your own copy of anything you'd be upset to lose. (You can export your data any time; see the privacy policy.)

Your account.

You sign in with your email (a one-time code or magic link). Keep access to that inbox secure — anyone who can read it can reach your account. You're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at hello@qatalytic.fi if you think someone else has gained access.

You must be 16 or older to use Vocula. That's our own, more conservative choice — Finland's digital-consent age is 13. See the privacy policy's Age section.

Your content stays yours.

The scenarios, anchors, decks, and cards you create are yours. We don't claim ownership of them. To actually run the service, you give us the permission we need to store and process your content — host it, run it through the privacy-stripping step, generate cards from it, and show it back to you. That permission exists only so the app can work, and it ends when you delete the content or your account, except for anything we're required or permitted to retain as described in the privacy policy.

If you choose to publish a deck to the shared library, you let other learners on the same language pair view and add a copy of it — and a published deck carries the scenario you wrote, so only publish what you're comfortable sharing. Two things to understand before you do: unpublishing is not a recall — anyone who already added a copy keeps it, and unpublishing doesn't remove it from their account; and deleting your account works the same way — a copy someone has already added stays with them, while a deck no one else uses is deleted. Be reasonable with it.

Don't use Vocula to:

• Break the law, or help anyone else do so.
• Upload other people's private information beyond the incidental mentions the privacy-stripping step is there to handle.
• Publish hateful, harassing, or illegal content to the shared library.
• Attack, overload, scrape, reverse-engineer, or probe the service or its infrastructure.
• Resell or pass off the service as your own.

Shared content is reviewed when reported, not pre-screened — there's a "report" option on shared decks and cards. We can remove content or suspend an account that breaks these rules.

AI-generated content.

Your cards and hints are generated by an AI model. AI gets things wrong — it can produce inaccurate, awkward, or occasionally nonsensical language. Check anything before you rely on it, especially for a real conversation that matters. The text you write is processed by our AI provider, which may process it outside the EU; the privacy policy explains how, and what safeguards apply.

Our part.

The Vocula name, the app, the website, and their design are ours (or our licensors'). These terms don't give you any rights to them beyond using the app as intended.

Ending things.

You can stop any time: delete your account in Settings → Your data → Delete my account, or email us. We can also end your access — for example if you break these terms, or when the alpha itself ends. If we wind the alpha down, we'll give testers notice and delete tester data as described in the privacy policy.

No warranties, and the limits of our liability.

Because this is a free alpha, Vocula is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We don't promise it will be accurate, uninterrupted, or fit for any particular purpose.

To the extent permitted by law, Qatalytic Oy isn't liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data, or lost opportunity arising from your use of the app. None of this limits the rights you have under mandatory Finnish or EU consumer law — where the law gives you protections we can't sign away, those stand, and nothing here is meant to reduce them.

Changes to these terms.

If we change these terms, the "Last updated" line at the top changes. Material changes — anything that meaningfully affects you — we'll tell testers about directly. If you keep using Vocula after a change, that's your acceptance of the updated terms.

Which law applies.

These terms are governed by Finnish law, and disputes fall to the Finnish courts — again, without taking away any mandatory consumer-law right to bring a matter where you live. You can also raise a consumer dispute with the relevant Finnish consumer authority.
